The biopic will consist of a three-night special on BET from January 24th-26th. The New Edition Story is directed by Chris Robinson who also directed ATL. Among some of the producers and co-producer are Brook Payne, who was once the band’s manager and original choreographer, and, from the band themselves, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant.
The film special will showcase the group’s journey of ups and downs in the spotlight starting from their Candy Girl days all up until the current era. New Edition fans and all ladies alike are drooling over the very handsome and talented members of the cast. The cast includes the likes of some very well-known artists and actors that viewers know will take the stage when the film finally airs.
Empire’s own Bryshere Gray will star as Michael Bivins. Also singer Luke James will be starring in the film as the one and only Johnny Gill. To build promotion for the film special, BET has been airing behind the scenes footage of the actors practicing their performance scenes together.
