"I feel the need to create my own communities. To validate ourselves and to support and hold one another accountable for the work that is done," said Kells Barnett.
April is now known to the world as Black Fashion Month, and what better way to celebrate it than by having a panel of fashion trailblazers. Even more interesting was these trailblazers happened to be all black males, who are doing amazing things in the fashion industry. New York City named panelist Kells Barnett and his family as the city's Fashion Ambassadors.
What was most amazing, was the turnout of males in the room. So many young black hungry male professionals supporting their brothers and progressively moving our message further. The event kicked of with an all male presentation by fashion designer Malcolm Diggs, and included resort wear items from his latest collection. The male designer walked guest through the pieces that were selected to present and also spoke to inspiration behind the collection. The guest were all ears and eyes as he spoke.

The night went on with some amazing testimonials and anecdotes that kept the audience on their toes. Touching on subjects like appropriation in fashion, blacks supporting blacks and the need for more black male identity in the fashion space. The panelist made it a mission to give the audience their soul and once the event had come to a close, it was evident that lives had been touched and brotherhoods formed.
